PHOENIX — A 26-year-old man was arrested in Scottsdale Wednesday for allegedly trying to pay a 16-year-old girl to perform a sex act, authorities said.

Andres Arvayo faces multiple charges that include child sex trafficking, attempted sexual misconduct with a minor and attempted money laundering, the Scottsdale Police Department said in a tweet.

Through text messages, Arvayo planned to meet the teen in a parking lot, walk her to her apartment and pay her to perform the act, authorities said.

Police said during the same conversation, Arvayo sent two pornographic pictures.

He was confronted by Scottsdale Human Exploitation and Trafficking detectives upon his arrival in the parking lot.

To report an instance of child sex trafficking, call the department tip line available 24/7 and leave a message at (480) 312-3456 or call the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1 (877) 373-7888.

We want to hear from you.
