Fiery collision on Pima Freeway Loop 101 in Scottsdale leaves 1 dead

PHOENIX – One person died in a fiery chain-reaction collision on a Valley freeway Sunday, authorities said.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety said a passenger in a vehicle was fatally injured in the Scottsdale wreck on eastbound Pima Freeway Loop 101 at Hayden Road around 6 p.m.
Troopers said a motorcycle rider had crashed and slid to the HOV lane. Two other drivers pulled over their vehicles to help. An SUV smashed into one of the parked vehicles, causing a fire.
A passenger who had been trapped inside the vehicle died of their injuries, DPS said.
The road reopened about 90 minutes later.
Cause of the crash is under investigation.
