PHOENIX – A Mohave County detention officer died of COVID-19 complications Monday, authorities said.

Anthony “Tony” Nicoletti was a six-year veteran of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, the agency said in a Facebook post.

“We ask that the community keep his wife, children, and entire family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time,” the post said.

“To the Nicoletti family, please know that you will always be a part of our law enforcement family.”

Nicoletti, a longtime Kingman resident, was most recently assigned as a fugitive and warrants officer at the county jail.

Two other Arizona county law enforcement officers also died Monday.

La Paz County Sgt. Michael Rudd was fatally hit by a truck after getting out of his car following a pursuit near the Arizona-California border.

Maricopa County Deputy Juan Ruiz died two days after he was assaulted by an inmate. Ruiz had been on life support since the attack Saturday at a substation in Avondale.
