PHOENIX — Police arrested a man on Tuesday morning for attacking a woman with a baseball bat and vandalizing community vehicles in Scottsdale.
Scottsdale police said that 23-year-old Wesley Tye Abeita was seen on Monday attacking parked vehicles and a woman sitting in her parked car at Gateway Trailhead when witnesses threw rocks at him, causing him to flee the scene, according to a release.
The woman was taken to the hospital with severe injuries.
A search for the suspect on Monday, involving a DPS Air Unit was unsuccessful.
A city employee then saw Abeita in the trailhead parking lot the next morning when he was taken into custody and charged with second degree murder, aggravated assault, burglary, disorderly conduct and criminal damage.
Abeita was found in possession of items from the vandalized vehicles when he was apprehended on Tuesday morning.
