Swede gets 7 years for coercing more than 60 girls online

Jun 4, 2015, 9:12 AM

STOCKHOLM (AP) — A Swedish court has sentenced a 29-year-old man to seven years in prison for using the Internet to coerce more than 60 young girls to perform sexual acts.

The Solna district court said in a statement Thursday the man was convicted of sexual coercion of minors, possession of child pornography and other charges. It didn’t identify him.

Prosecutors say the man befriended the victims, almost all of whom were under 18 and one as young as 11, on social media, but never met them. They say he coerced them into performing sexual acts in front of a web camera by threatening to spread explicit images of them unless they complied.

The defendant denied the charges and says someone else may have taken control of his computer remotely.
