Maricopa County mails out 1.4M ballots for upcoming jurisdictional elections

Oct 6, 2021, 3:00 PM | Updated: Nov 1, 2021, 10:44 am

PHOENIX – Maricopa County mailed out ballots to all 1.4 million voters eligible to participate in the upcoming jurisdictional elections.

Because it’s a ballot-by-mail election, as permitted by Arizona law, all registered voters in Chandler, Gilbert, Scottsdale and Surprise and 21 school districts across metro Phoenix were automatically sent ballots, even if they aren’t signed up to the Active Early Voting List.

The ballots are individualized based on where the voter lives, with the elections mainly covering bond and override questions. No elected offices are up for grabs.

Completed ballots needed to be mailed back in their signed and sealed envelopes by Oct. 26, because they have to be received by Election Day on Nov. 2 to count.

You can bypass the postal system by dropping your completed ballot off at any voting location or drop box by 7 p.m. on Election Day. And there’s also an in-person option at any voting location.

Trained Maricopa County Elections Department staff members review the signatures on every envelope submitted before the ballots are counted.

The list of voting locations and the dates/times they are open can be found at Locations.Maricopa.Vote.

Voters can check their status and find more information at BeBallotReady.Vote.

We want to hear from you.
