Tempe launches digital passport unlocking discounts, specials to local businesses

PHOENIX — Residents and visitors of downtown Tempe now have a new way of supporting local businesses while also getting discounts and specials.

The Discover Downtown Tempe Pass, presented by the Downtown Tempe Authority, is a digital passport available year-round that allows visitors access to offers that include discounts on activities and food and beverage purchases, as well as prizes while they shop.

The pass, available for instant download through SMS or email, includes over 30 participating businesses in the downtown district.

“The passport is a fun and interactive way to bring people downtown to support their favorite merchants, while also incentivizing them discover new experiences and places around downtown Tempe,” Kate Borders, executive director of the Downtown Tempe Authority, said in a press release.

“Downtown businesses need the community’s support more than ever.”

It is a collection of restaurants, retailers and attractions that are offering discounts and deals that are redeemable with a one-touch check-in.

Some of those businesses include House of Tricks, Original Chop Shop, Loco Patron, Spinelli’s Pizza and Varsity Tavern.

Guests who download the mobile passport and complete two check-ins by Oct. 1 will be entered into a drawing to win a $100 gift card to a business of their choice participating in the program. Two people will be selected to win the prize.
