PHOENIX — Police in Peoria said one of their own rescued a man who jumped from the balcony of a burning home on Friday.

Peoria police received a call about someone screaming for help, possibly from a house that was ablaze, around 4 a.m. near Wing Parkway and High Desert Drive.

Upon arrival, Officer Kyle Trouton saw the house on fire and was told by neighbors that there was someone on the second story in the backyard.

The officer made his way through the side of the home and located a man on the balcony. As the property continued to burn, Trouton told the man he would catch him if he jumped.

Officer Trouton and the man were safe and nobody was injured in the fire.

Fire personnel evaluated the resident and worked to contain the fire.
