PHOENIX — Staff at Macayo’s Mexican Food in Ahwatukee will attempt to earn the Guinness world record title for the longest chimichanga on Saturday with a 25-footlong deep-fried burrito, officials announced.
As the restaurant also celebrates 75 years in Arizona over the weekend, local supporters are invited to watch the team members try to set the record at 10 a.m. near 48th Street and Warner Road.
The chimichanga will be created with large amounts of flour tortillas, shredded chicken, refried beans, sauce, cheese and spices. It’s expected to be 3760% longer than the original Macayo’s version of the chimichanga.
Upon completion and review, audience members will be invited purchase samples of the chimichanga.
In addition to Saturday’s event, the restaurant will continue celebrations with drinks and food specials, live entertainment and contest giveaways.
