PUEBLO, Colo. — A 2-year-old condor found in a backyard near Colorado
Springs is on its way to an Arizona reintroduction program.

The Pueblo Chieftain reported the member of the vulture
family was checked out at the Pueblo Nature and Raptor Center on Sunday night
before being sent Tuesday morning to the Peregrine Fund in Arizona.

Pueblo Nature and Raptor Center director Diana Miller said the California
condor was one of the most endangered species in the world.

Miller said the condor found in Colorado was among several she saw released
into the wild at the Grand Canyon in September. She said it probably got pulled
along by recent storms, getting weak and disoriented before landing in Colorado.

The condor is in good condition, Miller said, though a little skinny.

We want to hear from you.
