PHOENIX — A pair of tropical storms in the Pacific could bring something rare to the Valley for early June — rain.

Hurricane Andres and tropical storm Blanca (likely to be upgraded to a hurricane) were hundreds of miles off the coast of Mexico on Tuesday, but their remnants could bring rain to the Valley later this week.

“That looks like the first chance that we see rain, then it will be hit or miss at least through the end of the week into the weekend,” Dan Leins with the National Weather Service said.

Rain could arrive by Thursday and drop temperatures, which have surpassed 100 degrees, back into double digits.

It has been more than two decades since metro Phoenix has had rain this early in June.

Leins said one-hundredth of an inch of rain fell June 6, 1993.

According to overnight numbers from AccuWeather.com,
Blanca was about 400 miles south of Manzanillo, Mexico, while Andres (category 2) was about 900 miles south/southwest of the southern tip of Baja California.
