PHOENIX — “CBS This Morning” anchor and PBS host Charlie Rose is set to receive the 2015 Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism, according to Arizona State University’s Cronkite School.

The university announced that Rose will receive the 32nd annual award during a luncheon ceremony Oct. 19 in Phoenix.

Rose said that he treasures the honor and the life of Walter Cronkite and the fact that the award comes from one of the best journalism schools makes it even more appreciated.

His more than 40 years of broadcasting experience is highlighted by interviews with Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Nelson Mandela, and even Walter Cronkite himself in 1996.

Rose’s interview show, “Charlie Rose”, premiered in 1991 on PBS where he has hosted for more than 23 years. He was also named anchor of “CBS This Morning” in 2011.

The North Carolina native is a graduate of Duke University.
