PHOENIX — A husky who has recovered from serious burns after being found as an underweight stray is ready to be taken home from a Scottsdale adoption center.
Hera was brought to the Arizona Humane Society in early July after a technician found her injured.
She was rushed to AHS’ Second Chance Animal Trauma Hospital, where doctors confirmed severe burns along her torso and legs.
Hera underwent a series of treatments in the healing process, including laser therapy, honey bandages, wound cleanings with saline and anti-infection medications.
The 1-year-old dog responded well to the treatment, even having most of her fur grow back.
Hera finished her recovery at an AHS foster home. She is ready to be adopted at the humane society’s PetSmart Scottsdale location at Camelback and Miller roads.
Anyone interested in adopting Hera is encouraged to make an appointment. Adoption hours are daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Arizona Humane Society treats about 11,000 sick, injured and abused pets per year at its trauma hospital.
