Grand Canyon hiker from Maryland found alive by search crews

PHOENIX – A Maryland man who’d gone missing while hiking at the North Rim of Grand Canyon was found alive Friday morning, authorities said.
Clifton Beck was in stable condition after search crews found him near Roosevelt Point around 8 a.m., the National Park Service said in a press release.
The 66-year-old was transported back to the North Rim for treatment.
Beck had a backcountry permit for two nights Sept. 10-12 on the Walhalla Plateau. He was reported as overdue on Tuesday night.
Comprehensive ground and air searches started Wednesday.
No other information was immediately available.
