PHOENIX – One metro Phoenix high school was evacuated Thursday and another was locked down in response to separate threats, authorities said.

Canyon View High School in Waddell, part of the Agua Fria Union High School District, was evacuated after a bomb threat was reported, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 11:30 a.m., the district said law enforcement determined the campus should be evacuated.

MCSO said at 12:30 p.m. that deputies searching the campus hadn’t found any devices.

The district said all students were off campus by 12:45 p.m., with staff soon to follow. Canyon View’s girls volleyball, JV football, swim and dive, and boys golf activities were postponed.

In the East Valley, Westwood High School was locked down while police investigated a shooting threat made on social media.

“As of right now, we do not believe this is a credible threat,” Detective Brandi George told KTAR News 92.3 FM in an email around 11:40 a.m.

George said Westwood students reported a Snapchat message saying there would be a shooting at 11:22 a.m.

Officers looking into the threat checked out the campus and deemed it safe.

The lockdown was set to be lifted at 12:25 p.m. George said additional security officers would remain on campus for the rest of the day.

Thursday’s incidents came a day after Mesa High School was locked down and then evacuated in response to a bomb threat. No devices were found.
