PHOENIX – A police standoff with a Phoenix man who fired a rifle at officers through a garage door ended in surrender, authorities said Wednesday.

No one was injured in the Tuesday night confrontation, the Phoenix Police Department said.

Bryan Judy, 34, was arrested at his home near 35th Avenue and Thunderbird Road after hours of negotiating.

He was booked on counts of aggravated assault on police officers and discharging a firearm within city limits.

Officers had responded to the area for a burglary call from a neighbor who said Judy entered his home and locked himself in the bathroom, police said.

By the time officers arrived, Judy was back in his own home, police said.

Shortly after officers tried to make contact with Judy, whom they said could be heard moving about in the garage, he began shooting at them.

Startled officers took cover as rounds from the weapon hit a vehicle parked in the driveway.

A special assignments unit team reached the scene and began negotiations with Judy.

We want to hear from you.
