Landscape hotel in Sedona moves closer to North American debut

PHOENIX – A Sedona hotel that bills itself as one of a kind and environmentally friendly will open for business in December, developers said.

An exact date for the opening of Ambiente has not been decided, but reservations will be available beginning in the fall, Sedona-based property constructor Two Sister Bosses said in a Tuesday press release. (Update: The resort announced on Dec. 13 that the opening has been delayed until May because of “supply chain issues in getting furnishings and finishing materials.”)

Ambiente, set along State Route 89A near State Route 179, will be the first so-called landscape hotel in North America, its Arizona developers said, designed to blend into its surroundings.

Construction is complete on the hotel’s 40 “ultra-luxury” atriums rather than rooms, each set on above-ground steel supports and ringed by nature.

Each cube-shaped atrium is 576 square feet and boasts views of the Coconino National Forest or red rock formations.

The company said nearly all of the atriums had private rooftop decks.

Work is still being done to the landscaping, poolside lounge, the two-story lobby and parking area.

Plans for landscaping include using plants and fish to keep the water features clean instead of relying on chemicals.

Rates will start at about $1,500 per night. Guests must be at least 18 years old.

We want to hear from you.
