PHOENIX – An injured hiker who was trapped overnight on a Phoenix mountain trail is on the road to recovery, first responders said early Friday.

Rescue teams from the Phoenix and Tempe fire departments brought the 61-year-old man down from the rocks at Papago Park around 6:15 a.m., the Phoenix Fire Department said.

The man said he had fallen on the trail Thursday about 8 p.m. A stranger found him about 6 a.m. and called for emergency services.

Crews wheeled him down and he was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

The overnight low in the Valley was 80 degrees.
