PHOENIX – A Silver Alert for a 103-year-old Phoenix man who had been missing for nearly a month was canceled Tuesday after formal identification of his body, authorities said.

The Phoenix Police Department said Aloys Ntirushwamaboko was found dead shortly after he was reported missing Aug. 27. He had last been seen that day near 43rd Avenue and Thomas Road.

Police said he was found the morning of Aug. 29 near 74th Avenue and Indian School Road but at the time the missing person report hadn’t been filed and they couldn’t positively identify the body as Ntirushwamaboko.

Police asked the Arizona Department of Public Safety to launch the Silver Alert as a safeguard.

There were no obvious signs of trauma to Ntirushwamaboko’s body, police said.

Police said they worked with the FBI to obtain fingerprints and dental records to make the match.
