At least 1 killed in wreck on Interstate 17 north of Phoenix

PHOENIX – One person died early Monday when a car carrier trailer detached and landed on top of the truck hauling it on Interstate 17 north of Phoenix, authorities said.
The wreck blocked two right northbound lanes of the freeway near the Carefree Highway around 4 a.m., the Arizona Department of Transportation said.
Two people were in the truck, the Arizona Department of Public Safety said.

The condition of the second person was unknown, authorities said.
One lane remained closed around 7:20 a.m., easing the backup that had developed.
