PHOENIX — One man is dead and another is in critical condition after a double shooting in Phoenix on Saturday night, according to authorities.

The Phoenix Police Department responded to a call for a welfare check in the area of 35th and Dunlap avenues.

Officers found two men with apparent gunshot wounds, officials said.

One was pronounced dead on scene and the other was transported to the hospital in critical condition, authorities said.

It is not known what led up to the shooting.

Police are investigating the incident and the area will be restricted “for some time,” officials said.

No other information was made immediately available.
