PHOENIX — A two-year-old boy was taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition after being found unconscious in a family pool in north Phoenix on Saturday, authorities said.

Phoenix firefighters were dispatched to a house near Greenway Road and Interstate 17 just before 6 p.m., officials said.

When crews arrived, a family member was doing CPR on the boy who was unconscious not breathing, according to authorities.

Fire personnel immediately began advanced life resuscitation efforts before transporting the boy to the hospital, officials said.

It is unknown how long the boy was in the water before he was pulled out of the pool.

No additional information was immediately available.
