Global technology services provider building new campus in Mesa

PHOENIX — A global technology services provider announced this week it plans to build a data center in Mesa.

Located in the Elliot Road Technology Corridor, the NTT Ltd. facility will take up 102 acres and have seven data centers, according to a press release on Tuesday.

It will offer a total of 240 megawatts of critical IT load and 1.5 million square feet of space, along with an on-site dedicated substation.

The data center is slated to open early next year and adds to a growing portfolio for the company that opened campuses in Illinois, Oregon and California over the past seven months.

The East Valley city has 1,000 acres of shovel-ready property to attract data center providers and high-tech manufactures all over the world, according to the release.

“Mesa is becoming one of the nation’s premier strategic hubs for companies like NTT, thanks to our affordable power and robust fiber network,” Mesa Mayor John Giles said in the release.

“NTT has made an excellent decision in selecting our Elliot Road Tech corridor as the home for their new data center campus.”

Doug Adams, CEO for the Global Data Centers Americas division of NTT Ltd., said in the release that Mesa has become a real data center destination with the number of clients and major providers currently or set to be in the region.

“We want to have a presence in the markets that make the most sense for our clients – Phoenix stood out as one of those markets, and the city of Mesa, in particular, was the perfect fit,” Adams said.

The facility will be designed to conserve energy and reduce water usage at each of the data centers, according to the release.

“We are pleased to take this next step in our U.S. expansion plans with the new campus,” Masaaki Moribayashi, president of the company, said in the announcement.
