PHOENIX — The FBI is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man accused of committing 13 Valley bank robberies since December.

The suspect has been robbing from grocery stores Fry’s, Safeway and Albertson’s since Dec. 30, 2020, with some of the robberies taking place at the same three banks, earning him the name “Back Again Bandit.”

Authorities said the suspect robbed six US Bank locations and two Desert Financial Credit Union locations in Tempe, Phoenix, Chandler, Gilbert, Casa Grande and Maricopa.

The most recent robbery took place inside a Fry’s grocery store near State Route 347 and Smith Enke Road around 11 a.m. in Maricopa on Aug. 14

Earlier this year, the suspect robbed a US Bank location inside a Tempe Fry’s store near Rural and Ray roads on two occasions and another US bank location inside a Phoenix Safeway grocery store near Chandler Boulevard and 40th Street three times.

No one has been injured during the robberies, authorities said.

The suspect is described as a white male between 6-foot to 6-foot-4, 225 to 300 pounds and 30 to 39 years old.

He has been seen wearing pants, a long-sleeved shirt, a baseball cap, latex gloves and a face mask, authorities said.

The suspect is considered to be armed and dangerous, as demand notes given to bank tellers implied the presence of a firearm.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the FBI Phoenix Field Office at 623-466-1999, submit a tip online or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (948-6377).

We want to hear from you.
