PHOENIX — A 3-year-old girl has died after being hospitalized in critical condition following a drowning incident in Mesa on Sunday, authorities said.
The Mesa Fire and Medical Department responded to a call of a drowning at a home near Ellsworth and Ray roads around 4:15 p.m.
Crews upon arrival found the child removed from the pool and immediately began life-saving measures, police said.
The child was then transported to the hospital in critical condition where she was pronounced dead, police said.
There are no current charges in the case, police said, and the investigation remains ongoing.
It was the second child drowning on Sunday after a young boy was taken to the hospital in critical condition in Phoenix.
