Child dies after being found with problems breathing at Mesa mall

PHOENIX — A child found unresponsive at Superstition Springs Center in Mesa was pronounced dead on Saturday, fire officials said.

According to a release, the Mesa Fire Department responded to the call for the unresponsive child who was struggling to breathe in the parking lot at the Mesa mall.

They immediately began treatment and transferred the child to Banner Desert Hospital.

Officials said the child was in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead.

No additional information was made available.
