PHOENIX — Authorities said Monday they don’t suspect foul play in the death of a 31-year-old Massachusetts woman found on the side of Camelback Mountain on Friday following a hiking trip with an off-duty Phoenix police officer.

The witness and off-duty officer, who sources identified to KTAR News 92.3 FM as Dario Dizdar, has been granted personal time off and offered resources, Phoenix police said in a statement.

This follows Dizdar’s testimony that the hiker, identified as Angela Tramonte, and him were traveling up the mountain without any water when she decided during the hike to head back down the trail, police said.

She asked Dizdar to continue to the top without her to take pictures she could share on her social media, authorities said.

Organizers of the GoFundMe page set up for Tramonte said she was visiting Dizdar in Arizona, who she’d met online two months ago.

“There are many inconsistencies in the timeline and facts that just don’t make sense. We just want justice for our friend,” the fundraiser’s organizer Melissa Buttaro said.

Detectives will continue this death investigation and cause and manner of death will be determined by the Office of the Medical Examiner.

No other information was made immediately available.
