PHOENIX– Phat Scooters is celebrating the opening of its retail space in Scottsdale Fashion Square with a parade through the mall on Saturday.

The Phoenix-based electric scooter company is looking for up to 25 riders in order to represent countries participating in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games for its parade of scooters.

Each scooter will have a flag representing one of the countries participating in the Games, and one special scooter will carry an LED torch to light a cauldron in recognition of the official opening of the Phat Lounge.

The lounge is located on the exterior of the mall in the luxury section near Yard House.

Participants and those who choose to follow the parade to its destination will arrive at the lounge for snacks, medals for children and the chance to win an American-themed custom scooter.

The event runs from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. and people are also welcome to come view an Olympic-themed scooter that has been signed by nine Olympians.

Former Olympian Peter Johnson founded Phat to sell a variety of completely electric scooters for recreational and commercial uses.

Prospective riders can visit the Phat Lounge to register before Friday at noon.
