PHOENIX — A hiker is recovering after firefighters rescued him off a Phoenix mountain Thursday about a day after he suffered a serious leg injury.
The 34-year-old man hiking on the Shaw Butte trail was stuck three-quarters of the way up the mountain overnight Wednesday, Phoenix Fire Department said in a press release.
He was unable to move or call for help since noon of that day.
He was spotted by a Phoenix police helicopter Thursday morning after reports of a lost hiker.
Phoenix Fire rescue crews hoisted him off the mountain because of the steep terrain and took him to a nearby hospital.
The man was in stable condition.
