Elderly man found dead in transport van of Mesa retirement facility

PHOENIX — An elderly man was found dead in a transport van of a Mesa retirement facility on Thursday, police said.
A worker at the Canyon Winds Retirement Facility near McDowell and Power roads flagged down an officer after discovering the man had been left in the vehicle, the Mesa Police Department said in an email to KTAR News 92.3 FM.
The officer entered the transport van and found the elderly man dead, police said.
The investigation is in the beginning stages and authorities are in the process of interviewing workers at the facility.
The family of the man has been notified, police said.
No additional information was made available.
