PHOENIX — Throughout the month of June, you can get your family pet spayed or neutered for $20 in the Valley.

The Arizona Humane Society and the Altered Tails Barnhart Clinic is offering these surgeries for a low price thanks to a grant from PetSmart charities.

According to Dr. Kelli Ayle, director of Veterinary Services at Altered Tails Barnhart Clinic, getting your pet neutered can cut down on over-population rates.

“They (cats and dogs) can go into heat and get pregnant as young as 4 months of age and some people don’t realize that; before they know it, they’ve got a litter of puppies or kittens on their hands that they can’t find homes for,” said Ayle.

Getting your furry friend spayed can lead to your pet living a healthier life.

“There are so many health benefits of spaying and neutering and that can range from eliminating certain types of cancer, eliminating uterine infections, cutting down on unwanted pregnancies and even with behavioral problems,” Ayle said.

Last year, the Arizona Human Society was responsible for spaying and neutering more than 18,000 animals, house and shelter pets. Altered Tails spayed and neutered more than 17,000.

Below are the following Valley places offering spay and neuter services in June for $20:
