PHOENIX – A missing Phoenix geologist’s SUV was found on it side a few miles from the remote West Valley jobsite he was last seen leaving nearly a month ago, authorities said Wednesday.

The Buckeye Police Department said a rancher discovered Daniel Robinson’s Jeep Renegade on his property Monday about 4 miles southwest of the worksite.

Police, Arizona Department of Public Safety and Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office personnel conducted new ground and air searches of the area, with the assistance of search and rescue dogs, but didn’t find Robinson.

The vehicle was on its side in a ravine with the airbags deployed. Robinson’s cellphone, wallet and keys were found at the scene.

Police believe Robinson was wearing a seatbelt when the Jeep rolled, and they don’t suspect foul play.

Robinson, 24, hasn’t been heard from since he drove west into a desert area near Sun Valley Parkway and Cactus Road in Buckeye on June 23.

Robinson is 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs 165 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes. He is missing his right hand and part of his forearm.

He regularly works in remote desert areas as part of his job as a hydrogeologist with an engineering firm.

Robinson’s father traveled from South Carolina to Phoenix during the search and has set up a GoFundMe account to help cover the costs of a private investigator, printing flyers, search team supplies and hotel expenses.

Anybody with information about Robinson’s whereabouts is asked to call the Buckeye Police Department at 623-349-6400.

We want to hear from you.
