PHOENIX — The McClintock bridge in Tempe was closed for hours on Saturday due to a man undergoing a mental crisis, police said.
The bridge was closed north and southbound from Tempe Marketplace to the Loop 202 from just past noon until around 4 p.m., the Tempe Police Department said in a press release.
Officers negotiated with the man for hours, with police saying the man was unwilling to accept all offers for help.
The man eventually made his way back over the rail and onto the sidewalk where police made contact with him and transported the man to the hospital for evaluation, police said.
No additional information was made available.
