We taped this show a few days ago. We knew it was timely, but almost immediately afterwards Gov. Doug Ducey acted to prevent the teaching of critical race theory in Arizona public schools.

We interview two Arizona social science teachers, Jim Byrne and Chico Robinson.

What is “critical race theory,” anyway? What is being taught in our schools? Listen to what two actual teachers have to say.

Then afterwards ask yourself:

• Exactly what thoughts and ideas are Ducey and others afraid of?

• Who should be making such curricular decisions: politicians or educators who have made teaching and history their life’s work?

• Should material be excised from our social science curriculum just because it makes some people uncomfortable? Or isn’t this the whole point of studying history?

The Think Tank airs on KTAR 92.3 FM on Saturday 6-7 p.m. and Sunday 9-10 p.m.

Podcasts are available after broadcast.

Interest rates may have peaked. Should you buy a CD, high-yield savings account, or a fixed annuity?

Interest rates are the highest they’ve been in decades, and it looks like the Fed has paused hikes. This may be the best time to lock in rates for long-term, low-risk financial products like fixed annuities.
