Faith in Humanity: Valley program gives vets control over health care

Men and women returning from serving overseas often need specialized or more focused health care and one Valley program is working to put the soldier in charge of their healing.

Operation Healing Journey, backed by the Honor House, allows veterans to fill the gaps in standard health care. Honor House will cover three months’ worth of treatments.

So far, the program has helped 24 veterans. Honor House is building a standby list and searching for scholarships to help more people.

In 2012, Sgt. 1st Class Brian Mancini (Retired-U.S. Army) co-founded Honor House, an organization whose mission is to provide a complete transitional package for returning soldiers that utilizes the resources from the community to meet the therapeutic and transitional challenges of our veterans affected by combat.
