PHOENIX — A former firehouse on the edge of Hance Park in Phoenix is being prepared to be turned into a restaurant, and small businesses are invited to potentially be a part of that change.
The city of Phoenix announced that small businesses can participate in next month’s Firehouse Fastpitch at the Phoenix City Hall to make pitches to an audience of proposing teams, according to a press release.
The location on First and Moreland streets is the only restaurant site with direct access to the downtown park on the market for lease.
The city is planning to issue a request for proposals this summer that will require small business outreach.
At the event taking place on Aug. 12, businesses can pitch themselves to developers or proposal teams to be part of the proposed project.
Three minutes will be given for the pitches, with two minutes allowed after for questions from the audience.
Development teams will then discuss the potential for small businesses to join their proposals.
Registration for the event opens July 21 and closes on Aug. 6.
The city will host a virtual information session at 9 a.m. on July 20 for small businesses and one at 10 a.m. for potential proposers about the required small business outreach.
