Police arrest 2 men who fled after fatal collision in Phoenix

PHOENIX — Phoenix police have arrested a pair of 20-year-old men that fled after a collision that killed a man and seriously injured another just after midnight on Friday, authorities said.
The men were in a Chevy Silverado that collided with a Ford Focus at the intersection of 71st Avenue and Thomas Road, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
A 42-year-old passenger in the Ford Focus was killed in the crash, while the 35-year-old driver suffered serious injuries.
Following the collision, police say another two people in a Chevy Avalanche stopped to help when the two 20-year-olds got out of the Silverado with weapons and ammunition and fled the scene in the vehicle.
Officers located the stolen car leaving a residence near 75th Avenue and Palm Lane, proceeding to stop the car and arrest one of the 20-year-old men.
The other 20-year-old man was still in the residence and eventually exited after negotiations and was arrested, police said.
Charges for the two 20-year-old men as well as the suspects’ names will not be released until the booking process is complete, police said.
The names of the victims also weren’t available.
No additional information was immediately available.
