DPS seizes weapons, drugs from Phoenix drive-by shooting suspect

Jul 9, 2021, 4:05 AM

PHOENIX — Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers confiscated a cache of weapons and drugs from a drive-by shooting suspect in an incident that occurred in Phoenix in April, authorities said.

Quinten F. Davis, 30, was arrested on July 1 and booked into the Maricopa County Jail on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, drive-by shooting, discharge of a firearm within city limits, possession and sale of marijuana, possession and sale of dangerous drugs, misconduct involving weapons and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Detectives that served a search warrant of Davis’ Phoenix home found several loaded assault-style rifles, an Uzi, several handguns, loaded magazines and hundreds of rounds of ammunition, DPS said in a press release.

Drugs and over five pounds of marijuana packaged for transportation and sale were also located in the man’s home, authorities said.

An investigation of the drive-by shooting that occurred on Interstate 10 near 43rd Avenue just after 2 p.m. on April 10 led to the identification of Davis as the suspect and subsequent arrest.

Authorities say Davis was maneuvering in an erratic manner and swerved across multiple lanes before cutting off the victim’s vehicle and nearly causing a collision.

Davis then allowed the victim’s vehicle to catch up and then fired several shots, striking the victim’s vehicle, authorities said.
