15 Phoenix schools to host COVID-19 vaccine event with free backpacks

PHOENIX – Students in the eligible age group can get COVID-19 shots plus free backpacks and supplies at participating schools across Phoenix during a vaccination event Friday and Saturday.
Fifteen campuses are taking part in the Phoenix Union High School District’s second “Spread Love, Not COVID” event in partnership with the Arizona Department of Education and Maricopa County Department of Public Health.

The Pfizer shots are available to anybody at least 12 years old, with thousands of backpacks and other items on hand for school-age kids while supplies last.
Individuals planning to attend are encouraged to register online or by calling 602-764-1500. If transportation is a problem, Lyft has donated free rides that can be secured by calling the same number.
The following five schools will participate only on Friday from noon to 5 p.m.:
- Garfield Elementary School, 811 N. 13th St.
- Herrera School for the Arts and Dual Language, 1350 S. 11th St.
- Kings Ridge Preparatory Academy, 3650 S. 64th Lane
- Magnet Traditional School, 2602 N. 23rd Ave.
- Wilson College Prep, 3005 E. Fillmore St.
Ten other schools will be open noon-7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday:
- Academies at South Mountain, 5401 S. Seventh St.
- Alhambra High School, 3839 W. Camelback Road
- Bernard Black Elementary School, 6550 S. 27th Ave.
- Betty H. Fairfax High School, 8225 S. 59th Ave.
- Camelback High School, 4612 N. 28th St.
- Carl Hayden Community High School, 3333 W. Roosevelt St.
- Maryvale High School, 3415 N. 59th Ave.
- North High School, 1101 E. Thomas Road
- Osborn Middle School, 1102 W. Highland Ave.
- Trevor G. Browne High School, 7402 W. Catalina Drive
