PHOENIX- Valley Metro launched a new app that allows passenger to track buses and light rail services in real time, officials said in a release Tuesday.
The Valley Metro: Plan and Trackapp is currently available, and passengers can plan trips with step-by-step navigation, track transit in real time, estimate travel times and receive service alerts, according to the release.
“This digital tool is a game changer for our riders. It basically takes all of the guesswork out of planning a transit trip,” Valley Metro CEO Scott Smith said in the release.
“We know this is a big deal for current riders and we believe it will attract new riders to our ever-growing system.”
Passengers will also be able to pay their fares through the app beginning in 2022.
The city of Phoenix partnered with Valley Metro and Vix Technology to modernize the public transportation’s fare system.
The Valley Metro app is now available on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
