PHOENIX — A house in Mesa was set on fire Sunday night due to fireworks that were improperly thrown away in the trash can, firefighters said.
Mesa and Gilbert firefighters responded to a house fire near Broadway Road and Val Vista Drive to discover a two-story home with heavy fire appearing from the roof.
Fire crews said the family, including one adult, two children and two dogs, made it out of the home safe and no firefighters or people were injured during the incident.
Preliminary investigation shows “improperly discarded fireworks are most certainly the cause of the fire,” authorities said in a press release.
No additional information was made available at this time.
