PHOENIX — A 4-year-old boy was taken to a local pediatric hospital in extremely critical condition after a drowning incident on Monday, authorities said.

Phoenix Police Department officers arrived at the residence near 7th Street just north of Loop 101 and conducted CPR until fire department personnel arrived and took over resuscitation efforts.

The boy was under the water for at least two minutes, according to authorities.

Police said the child was breathing on his own just prior to arriving at the hospital.

No other information was available.
