PHOENIX — The town of Gilbert on Monday opened five new rideshare passenger loading zones in the Heritage District downtown.

The zones will provide a safer and more efficient area for the drop-off and pick-up for passengers of ridesharing, ride-hailing or taxis and private vehicles, according to a press release.

There are two loading zones along Vaughn and Page avenues and one on Cullumber avenue.

Vehicles can remain in the loading zones for up to two minutes while picking up or dropping off passengers.

Multiple vehicles can use the passenger loading zones at the same time, according to the release.

The district is a popular spot for residents and tourists alike, featuring more than 30 restaurants along the stretch where the new loading zones are located.

Other amenities in the area include a retail experience filled with diverse stores as well as the city’s iconic water tower that lights up in different colors throughout the year.
