PHOENIX — A registered sex offender was arrested early Tuesday morning for allegedly breaking into a home in Buckeye, authorities said.
Jacob Ramirez, 34, was booked on felony charges of burglary in the 2nd degree and disorderly conduct after he allegedly entered a home near Southern Avenue and Rooks Road around 1:30 a.m. by removing a screen and going in through the window.
The victim, a young adult man, awoke to find Ramirez standing over him while he was in bed, according to authorities.
Ramirez allegedly fled through the same window he came in.
The family contacted Buckeye police and provided officers with video evidence from a doorbell system.
Dispatchers checked for registered sex offenders in the area and found a matching description of Ramirez, who lived one block away from the victim’s home.
Officers within minutes of the investigation observed Ramirez walking between his residence and the victim’s home, according to authorities.
Ramirez was pursued on foot and taken into custody without incident.
