PHOENIX – In another sign of life getting back to normal as the COVID-19 pandemic subsides, the Phoenix Public Library is ending the curbside service it debuted last year and expanding hours at 16 branches next week.

Face masks are no longer required for library visitors who are fully vaccinated, the city said in a press release Thursday.

Phoenix libraries closed in March 2020 as part of the city’s efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in the early days of the pandemic.

They launched curbside service, allowing patrons to pick up materials reserved online, two months later.

In May of this year, the buildings reopened with limited hours (except for the South Mountain Community College branch, which remains closed). They continued to offer curbside pickups until now.

Here are the expanded hours that will go into effect Monday:

Burton Barr: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, Friday and Saturday; 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Agave, Cesar Chavez, Cholla, Desert Broom, Ironwood, Juniper, Mesquite, Palo Verde, Saguaro and Yucca: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, Friday and Saturday; 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; closed Sunday.

Acacia, Century, Desert Sage, Harmon and Ocotillo: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, Friday and Saturday; 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; closed Sunday.
