Photos from lost camera headed to Nebraska woman

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — A Nebraska woman said she’s excited to see snapshots from a camera recently found near a creek in Montana’s Glacier National Park.

Montana photographer and editor Chris Peterson was looking to photograph some ducks last month when he noticed the camera lying in gravel near the creek. He had suspected its owner could be a Lincoln resident from the photos he found on its memory card. On Saturday, he found her.

Caroline Rezac called the Lincoln Journal Star (http://bit.ly/1JT3xph ) after recognizing herself and several family members in one of the pictures published in the newspaper.

“To see that was totally shocking,” Rezac said.

She and her husband, John, were vacationing in the national park three years ago. John was busy snapping photos on a different camera when the other camera fell from his pocket and into a stream. The current swept away the camera before the couple could recover it.

Rezac now is eagerly waiting to see images on its memory card, some of which she’s unsure how old they may be. Some date well before the couple’s Montana vacation.

Peterson, an editor and photographer with Glacier Park Magazine and Hungry Horse News, is still trying to figure out how to get the pictures to Lincoln. He’s considering shipping the card to Lincoln or burning its images onto a CD to mail.
