BOSTON (AP) — A new round of public hearings gets underway this week on Boston’s embattled bid to host the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Boston City Council President Bill Linehan, chair of the Special Committee on the 2024 Olympics, says the panel’s next hearing will take place Monday morning at City Hall.
Linehan says three other hearings, including one on an unspecified date in early June, will be held over the next two months. The committee says it’s expanding the sessions after its kickoff hearing in March lasted more than four hours and drew crowds concerned about the Games’ cost and impact.
The meetings come amid mounting impatience from Gov. Charlie Baker, who’s pressing bid organizers to complete a detailed plan in the next month so the public has adequate time to discuss it.
