PHOENIX — A massive heatwave is expected to impact the Valley throughout the week and into the weekend.

High temperatures will climb into the 115- to 120-degree range, with an excessive heat warning in effect through 8 p.m. on Saturday.

The high is expected to be 116 degrees on Monday, 117 degrees on Tuesday, 116 degrees on Wednesday, back to 117 degrees on Thursday and Friday before going down slightly to 114 degrees on Saturday and 112 degrees on Sunday.

It could be a record-breaking week of heat for the Valley, as the expected highs would break records every day through Friday.

Excessive heat is not only expected to impact the Valley but most of southern Arizona and into the northern part of the state around Prescott.

During periods of extreme heat, experts advise people to stay hydrated, limit the amount of time outside, try to stay inside air-conditioned buildings and remember to check on elderly family members and neighbors.

People are also advised to watch for warning signs of heat-related illnesses, which can include heavy sweating, muscle cramps, weakness, headache and nausea.

Phoenix broke records for the most 110-degree days (53) and 115-degree days (14) in a year in 2020, along with 95-degree days (172), 100-degree days (145) and 105-degree days (102).

We want to hear from you.
