PHOENIX — Republican Senate candidate Mark Brnovich said Friday he’s recently talked with former President Donald Trump, who has called out the current state attorney general for not pushing election fraud claims.

“I recently spoke to President Trump and had a good, positive conversation,” Brnovich told KTAR News 92.3 FM’s The Mike Broomhead Show. “I’m a straight shooter and I know sometimes people I hear in other places are throwing a little shade at me because they have their own agendas.

“If anyone has a problem with me, including the former president, senators or whatever, pick up the phone and talk to me and I’ll tell you exactly what I’m doing and what I’ve done.”

Brnovich, who announced his candidacy Thursday, has repeatedly said in recent months that President Joe Biden won Arizona in the November 2020 election.

Trump, a continued powerful GOP figure even after his loss, said last month that Brnovich “has done little so far on voter integrity and the 2020 Presidential Election Scam.”

Brnovich has moved on from the election to become a vocal opponent of some policies of Biden, including his position on border issues.

Brnovich is aiming to unseat Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly in a race that could determine which party has control of the Senate, so Trump’s support could be crucial to his cause.

Trump has also called out Republican Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey for his lack of action in advancing election fraud claims.

“One of the things I’ve reminded a lot of folks this last year is there was a half a dozen times when other elected party officials wouldn’t step up and I had to step in and defend our election integrity laws,” Brnovich said.

We want to hear from you.
