PHOENIX– Phoenix Rescue Mission opened its new $12 million Life Recovery Building on Thursday.

The Arizona-based nonprofit intends to utilize the new 56,000-square-foot facility to provide an additional 200 long-term recovery beds for homeless men in the Phoenix community.

“Today marks a significant step forward in the fight to end this epidemic of men in our communities who, for a variety of reasons, are battling addiction and/or homelessness,” Phoenix Rescue Mission CEO Ken Brissa said in a press release Thursday.

“It’s amazing to see the transformation of Phoenix Rescue Mission from a small operation in 1952 to now being one of the region’s leading long-term recovery care centers.”

Phoenix Rescue Mission provides a variety of programs such as vocational development, addiction recovery and case management.

As a part of their expansion efforts, Phoenix Rescue Mission is renovating its Transforming Lives Center, which will increase the facility’s capacity to aid the community.

The nonprofit will spend $14.7 million on the expansion of their facilities and services by the end of the project.

The homeless and impoverished community in the Valley increased during the pandemic, and addiction may have played a role in this trend, officials said in the release.
